LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT

Scrawny little thing, she shivered from fright more than body temperature.  Would she show it?  NEVER.  Her head was way too big to match her body right now, but someday... Funny looking, but so adorable that it could be nothing but love at first sight for me.

Choosing her own name should have given me a hint as to her "defining" nature. She wouldn't respond to anything until he said, "Oh.  She's just a little wiener girl."  She zipped around and ran toward me.  Wiener it was, and has been ever since.

It's amazing to me how her personality shines right through everything she does. She's opinionated; very selective; wary of strangers, and extremely stubborn.  There are very few things she won't eat, but they need to be prepared to her liking.  She can sleep the day away. She is protective of me and not easily friends with most men.  Once she has established "he" is okay, she loosens demeanor a little, but stays between the person and me, just in case.

Her attitude matches her personality.  You definitely know where she stands on any issue involving her.  If she doesn't agree with me, she snorts and walks away.  (Any day now I expect to see her stomp her foot as she leaves.)  Her vocabulary consists of about 25 words.  I've resorted to spelling them when I don't want her to know what is going to happen.  If  "Ice Cream"  is included in the conversation, she's at the refrigerator looking up to the freezer. If "Go" is mentioned she's at the door waiting to receive her halter and "jingle bells" or tags that she has to wear to go out.  And, I cannot eat or drink anything away from the table because it's fair game as far as she is concerned.  She's not allowed to beg at the table, but anywhere else is okay-according to her opinion.

I don't know what I would have done lately without her.  She is my partner in crime, confidante, friend and companion.  She never "squeals" on me, laughs at me, or criticizes me.  And, where is she when I'm resting?  Closer than my skin.  That's why I call her my little "Saran Wrap."
